A Cena

This year celebrates 10 years since we opened the A Cena doors.

My love of Italian food began at a very young age. Having an Italian mother, who is an exceptional cook, I loved being in the kitchen with her, the smells, the tastes & visiting family in Lake Como and Emiglia Romagna (the gastronomic heartland of Italy) ignited a passion for simple, stylish, great tasting food. It was only natural that I become a chef and opened up Giorgio Armani’s first restaurant in England where I was first Head Chef then Manager. I have always wanted my own restaurant. Having grown up and living in Richmond I wanted somewhere I could go with my family and be happy to eat in, which meant high quality yet simple Italian food set in an elegant but relaxed friendly atmosphere. The idea of A Cena was born. – Camilla

After spending many years as an International Polo player and coach, I was happily persuaded by my wife, Camilla, to set up A Cena. I gained invaluable experience in the kitchens of St John Restaurant, East 1 and Covent Garden Market before opening the doors of A Cena in 2001 as a simple family-style Italian restaurant with a modern twist. In the years since A Cena opened I have gained a vast knowledge and understanding of the process behind producing fantastic Italian wines (and the odd taste or two). I will happily choose the perfect wine to go with your dish. – Tim

I first met Camilla at Giorgio Armani where I became Head Chef following Camilla’s move to manager. I was previously classically trained in French cuisine at Le Talbooth followed by Sous Chef at the Compleat Angler Hotel at Marlow. Like Tim, I was thrilled to be asked by Camilla to help set up A Cena. The menu I create at A Cena is constantly changing with the seasons to ensure it is based on great food, cooked to perfection that all the family can enjoy. Since the opening of A Cena I am also now the proud Godparent to Camilla and Tim's son, Finlay– Nicola (Head Chef)

I have been with A Cena for over 6 years now and became manager 12 months ago. My team and I work hard to ensure that when diners walk through the A Cena doors, they are welcomed warmly, made to feel at ease, comfortable and most importantly they leave A Cena having had a positive and pleasant experience - Martin
